tippy toes, ready to launch
i asked the question that invited the challenge
to go on a quest for intimacy - with God and the family around me

there's no way but forward
yet reasoning grabs my ankles, or is it fear disguised?

i stay and consider
really count the cost

scattered thoughts screaming
running emotions rattling
against the bars of a prison cell

they're trapped inside
unable to break free
cos they're not worthy
created from the darkest of pits

they seek only to satisfy themselves
they feed till their own bellies burst
and destroy everything, everyone around
to only return to the darkest of pits

starve i say! starve and die!
it is no longer i that live
it is Christ Himself who thrives
and stands free

on the other side of this cell
